I agree - there isn't any other gold on the bike AFAIK, so as long as it looks gold-enough to you then that's all that matters.
Oddly enough I got some cheapo silver paint (christmas type stuff) and repainted my engine side casings - that also worked quite well, but then they don't get as hot as some other bits.

Re: Colour Code for Gold Wheels
I tried and failed to find a colour code for my wheels, failed miserably as I didn't really try all that hard lol..
In the end I went for a ford solar gold with clear gloss lacquer (I only mention the gloss as I was unaware until recently you can actually get a 'matt' lacquer)
Results look good and I agree with the others, if it looks gold, it is gold.

likewise on the effort put in, although I had good intentions.... when I dropped the frame off I said confidently I'd like 'Honda NH1' - to which he said whats that then? I said 'black'. He then replied right 'so that'll be gloss black then' so when it came to the wheels I just left them with the instruction of 'gold'.

Your wheels look lovely, Dan, but are those chips in the paint on your rear wheel, or dirt?

That's cool. It's your first build, your kids will have memories of it and you said yourself, one day you may pass it on along with the biking bug.
Besides, it's giving me ideas for my pie-in-sky project.

If you don't like the gold then they also came in a 'gunmetal' type metalic colour.
I suspect they would look quite good if you got an appropriate grey/silver car colour from Halfords (or wherever) and gave them a spray.
