naked to faired
i want to do a bit of touring on the CB when i buy my new bike, im getting a CBR 600 F4i soon,
i plan to fit the front half fairing you get on the sport models, but no idea what is all needed to go from a naked CB to a half faired one, ive also got a set of hard panniers and a topbox for it.
this is the bike in question

Re: naked to faired
there is a bracket on the headstock that you don't get on the naked model so don't think you'd get it on there unless it's aftermarket or get a bracket welded on..... plus faired has higher rise yokes so could even have some clearance issues on the locks.
Skidmarx do some good fairings

Hi,
I have a CB500s and want to convert to the unfaired version. Maybe we can discuss this off-line if you are interested.
my email is: jakelowe30@hotmail.com

There's an aftermarket full fairing on the bay at the moment. It'll be the easiest way to convert as it just clamps onto the headstock.

It is not certain that you will like the fairing when you try it.
There can be severe buffeting issues, and that, above all, is the unconfortable thing on a long journey.
Since the CB isn´t a bike in which you will be going much faster than 120/140 km/h, i don´t think that a fairing can make such a big difference.
The fairing you already have can remove most of the air from you chest, and i don´t think that you will feel bigger difference with the full fairing.
Tell us how it worked out.
Don´t let the fact of not having a fairing to demolish that touring idea...

Re: naked to faired
My CB500W is naked, but I've not had any real problems with doing several hundred miles a day, apart from the seat causing parts of my body to go numb in a way the ladies won't fully appreciate!

Re: naked to faired
My last bike was a fully faired Suzuki GSXF600, so coming of a faired bike to a naked has been quite a difference, maybe i just need to get the new bike a bit sooner

Re: naked to faired
I recently bought the bits second hand to go the other way but a short illness stopped me doing it just yet.
1. The yokes have different brackets. I bought the naked yokes as a pair.
2. Obviously you will need to buy the fairing and get rid of the rad cowls
3. I think the cable lengths are longer on the faired bike
4. The faired bike has a different headlight and an old fairing sometimes 'yellows' in the lens which could be an M.O.T, failure
5. The clocks are different.

The loom's slightly different too as the s clocks have left & right indicator warning lights instead of the combined one on the naked.
