real rivet counting boring ass nerd question
Whose bike has got the handle bar bolt caps still on? I've got one bike with and one without the four black plastic caps.

Grrr.
Still, shedding that extra 4 grammes probably translates to between 5 and 10 centimetres per hour extra top end.
Hey - it all adds up!

They got a bit chewed up when I removed them to swap the 'bars. It wasn't like I took exception to them and threw 'em away!

Yeah just looking at them I thought these are probably a bit of a use-once kind of thing, unless you're really careful about removing them. At any rate, I probably won't be shelling out for a set any time soon.

Still on mine, which, coincidentally, hit 40k miles on my way home from work today

Still got mine too. Think I saw some replacements on the bay for not much money.

Re: real rivet counting boring ass nerd question
I've got all four.
Probably because no one at any time during this bikes life saw any purpose in getting at the boltheads beneath the caps. Seller told me he'd bought the bike from a female vicar and it had no signs of having been mangled in any way. From which you can tell I'm assuming female vicars are mostly not mechanically inclined. Statistical evidence says 'women dont do mechanics'.

Did you buy the bike from Honest Magnus' Motorcycles? Did the female vicar only use the bike to go to church on Sundays? I reckon it's been 'round the clock, having been couriered from Tilst to Copenhagen and everywhere in between!

Nope. Bike bought from private seller. I had a chuckle about the vicar-explanation, because it sounds almost too silly.
On the subject of previous owners; to my knowledge danish motoring/tax-registers do not keep track of number of owners. Bikes are bought as-is.

My bolt-covers had been previously removed by a previous owner, probably when they fitted the alloy bars.
