Re: Simmi Exhaust
I phoned the guy up to make sure it was the right price and what I was ordering was legit.
At first he asked was it for road or race. Only because he makes most of them for track bikes. When It comes im hoping to do a few videos. especially if I can get the microphone to work properly on my camera.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
I have had one fitted to my work bike for a couple of years now. Well made and sounds great. Not too loud until you open it up. Only problem I have found is that it really makes the standard downpipes look crap.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
Ok time for an update.
Ive had a little trouble.....
Pipe came with silencer, link pipe and clamps. All chromed and looking very nice.
However when I came to fit it that's when the problems started.
1st. the link pipe has the centre stand bracket welded to it which only just reaches the stand but doesn't actually keep it from catching on the chain.
2nd. The silencer goes nowhere near the retaining bracket / foot peg bracket.
Ok I don't think my headers are standard BUT the rear can is. Its been suggested that I cut down the header pipe but I cant see how this will make a difference.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
You need the rubber bung the centre stand sits on that's currently on your stock can to stop the chain hitting. If you want a bit more clearance, these universal ones on the bay are deeper.
From the look of where the centre stand bracket is sitting it appears the link pipe isn't far enough onto the downpipes. Have you a photo where they connect? For what it's worth the strap on my old fuel can was near the end too so it'll be secure if you can get it pushed on a bit further. A rubber/copper mallet (or a regular hammer & block of wood if you haven't got one) can help.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
Ive give it a good whack where its positioned now. It is in line with the bracket so any further down wont make much difference I think. I have the rubber bung on the old can. it needs to be pushed down a lot more than that bung would.
I will try to get more pics over the weekend if I can.
I may have to make some kind of spacer for the can bracket though. It steps out around 3cm.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
Right chaps ive managed it. Well sort of after much faffing.
Ive got it so the bracket for the kick stand just about does its job. When theirs weight on the bike it pushes the swing arm down and further away from the stand thus further from the chain so it should be ok.
I had to make my own bracket, which is just a bit of tube I had lying around and a longer mounting bolt.
Anyway pics:
It sounds AWESOME!
With the baffle in its LOUD. It sounds great on full throttle and pops and bangs like a trooper on the overrun.
With the baffle out... its ridiculous! Its BLOODY LOUD but sounds brilliant! The pops and bangs on the overrun are very addictive.
Im currently editing some video so hopefully ill be able to show you.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
Don't get too addicted to the pops and bangs, I did especially in 30 limits. You'll edn up doing 40 and then 25 and then 40 ect, ect. I know because that's what I did

Re: Simmi Exhaust
The can is the same size as the standard one. You can request a shorter can but its bloody loud as it is. I think im glad I went for the standard size.

Really? Blimey I got lucky on that one! I must admit for the price its a cracking piece of kit. Even if it doesn't fit perfectly it does the job.

Re: Simmi Exhaust
The centre stand bracket which keeps the centre stand away from the chain isn't quite long enough. It only just reaches.
The clamp witch holds the can to the pillion peg bracket required a spacer. Otherwise I had no way to hang it and or it would catch against the pillion bracket and just not fit. If you see in the last picture a small 2cm spacer I made up to take up the gap.
This however may all be down to the fact that my headers are not standard but are stainless. These were put on by a previous owner.
Its also a VERY tight fit from the link pipe to the bottom of the headers. Cant complain at that as no gasket needed but it does make it a little harder to fit. Again this maybe down to the fact that its not standard.
The only reason I just bought an end can is because the rest isn't standard. Otherwise I would have bought a full system. Im not sure if simmi do those though?

That's good news.
Even though I've never used one myself it's nice the option's still there.
