New Member, I might regret this but I bought an beat up old CB
Hi All,
Dave from South Yorks here.
I just became the 19th new owner (yes 19!) of an old CB, it;s been crashed and is dead tatty but it has the potential to make a reasonable run around and track bike, the engine is really sweet.
One of the front stanchions is bent so needs replacing and I'm removing the lights so it will be on a daytime MOT I hope.
I'm sure I will be extracting some of the wisdom from the site and hopefully giving a bit back. My other bikes are a ZX6R for the track and an Aprilia Shiver for the road.
Lots to do..
Doh, the site wont let me post a pic till ive been a member 7 days so I'll add it later!

Upgraded/refreshed the brakes and suspension, tested the little piggy on track and it seemed to run well enough, except for ground clearance issues.. So over winter Ive done it up a bit for more track time this year..

It took me 3 hours to degrease it and wire brush it. The paint is Simoniz black engine enamel spray. It's amazing stuff.

As it stands now
Carbs are ready to fit, I have to buy a bit of fuel line, add water and hopefully it's bodywork fitting time..

Pretty sure they are Ebay ones, not Samco, they are a lot more expensive. This is before....The loom has shrunk I only need the oil, neutral, tacho, live, switched live and earth up front.

Looking good to go! The loom isn't exactly a work of art as it comes from the factory; it is possible to tidy it up quite a lot - remove unnecessary connectors etc
Are those powder coated wheels or did you paint them yourself?

Instrumentation
Most of the time it will only have the shift light / tacho attached.

Fitted the shift light tacho, just need a bit of heat shrink tube to finish it.
I used a 22mm clip
pipe clamp costing 20p from the local DIY, a bit of aluminium plate, drilled and tapped so it fits the countersink screw through the pipe clamp. The velcro supplied with the shift light does the rest. The 22mm clamp fits the renthals perfectly and it makes it nice and adjustable to tilt.
