Hi, Passed my test last year at age 48, Since then I have had: VFR750FK, Bandit 600, GSXR750 Slingshot, FZR1000 Genesis, Bandit 1200. I have now bought a Beaten up CB500S 'W' Reg 2000 for £250. Needs a few bits doing but already I love it! I will post some piccys soon. Just had new rear tyre and the next job is and oil change and then to get some new/secondhand downpipes as mine are on their way out. Is it worth buying secondhand Downpipes? Cheers Dave  Very Happy

Welcome Dave! You'll have lots of fun with the CB! Very Happy
If you can find some I'd get stainless downpipes, Motad do them and they appear on ebay from time to time. Forget the Motad end can, it's chromed mild steel and rots from the inside out, see my avatar pic Razz

Hi Dave - I've had my 500s for a year now and I do a round trip of 50 miles to work. It has never let me down once. I have let it down though, I filled it with diesel once and wondered why I could not get it going for two days!
Best bike I've ever owned and I've probably owned 30 from scooters to a bonnie. I think I still have the record of 83mpg from it as well. Mine is a 2003 moel and it came with a motad pipe, lovely sound. I am 65 on the 23rd of this month and hope to retire in a few years time and I will miss my daily commute into Birmingham whatever the weather. Remember - point and squirt... Regards Peter

Thanks for the info guys. I will save a search on ebay and hopefully some SS downpipes will become available before my ones fall apart, in which case I will be buying new! So far I have had more fun on the CB500 than any of the other bikes I have owned and I have had a few Smile

Hi mate. Those stainless downpipes are pretty rare on ebay. I've been looking for 2 years! Will probably buy new when I get around to it.

250 quid isn't a bad price: it is probably worth that in spares!

Good luck in getting it going!

7 bikes actually I forgot to tell about the fazer 600! I always wanted a superdream 250 or 400 when I was young. But everyone I meet just laughs when I mention that!

I bought a complete stainless system from Motad, just before xmas for £159.
bought through ebay, (they call themselves Motad1) it was advertised as used for photo purposes in their catalogue so has some light scratches on it but its immaculate, so well chuffed

I got the impression they had more than one set for that price and was tempted myself.

they had three sets advertised as the same thing, but seeing the cond
tion when they arrived I aint complaining. My set on the bike are stainless and there is nothing wrong with them apart from road dirt, but a full set at that price was too good to miss
