Visor rain repellant
Do people have experience of visor rain repellent?
I used to use spit.
(It didn't work very well.)
Does it matter what visor it is?
As in would it damage coatings or types of plastic or something?
I assume coatings would be on the inside if anything.

I use to use bob heath visor spray its ok.
But a pinlock would be the best option.

Re: Visor rain repellant
Yes, I have pinlock. Very impressed with it.
I was thinking about the rain repellent externally rather than demisting internally though.
Riding in busy traffic and drizzle or mist. (yes, it does rain occasionally in Cornwall)
I have seen stuff somewhere that beads the water and it runs off rather than having a layer of drizzle.
So I was wondering if the visor stuff works.
Nikwax do one, so do raincoat, and wurth I think hein gerike, I am sure there are others.
Wondering if they work.

I've used this
http://www.visorvision.co.uk/shop/Raincoat-Rain-Repellent-28?osCsid=vr5e5610q032cqrfn2b1jik9b5
It's a white paraffin style wax that you put on with a damp sponge, smooth over and polish with a cloth. Rain rockets off your visor. It's not suitable for all visors though, and does need regular application. I liked it though

I use Avlabs Clearview that I got from Demon Tweeks a few years ago - was super, super p*ssed at the time because what asked for and 'believed' I was buying was 'Plexus Plastic Cleaner' which had been recommended to me.
From what I've read just don't use glass cleaner or anything that isn't specifically designed for plastic as it makes the visors brittle.

In the past I've tried Nikwax visorproof - seemed to work well.

Re: Visor rain repellant
When I did my CBT the trainer said to use furniture polish (only on the outside of the visor) and buff it off to a clear finish, as it leaves a wax layer. I have done this with all my visors and it works well as the water beads nicely and glides off then you turn your head (inside said helmet) sideways when travelling along on bike. Doesn't seem to a adverse affect on visor, the Caberg I had for eight years was still fine when I bought a new "improved" helmet.

I thought the vegetarian treatment was for the inside of the visor as a means of cutting out the condensation ? At least the spud rub certainly is for that.

Re: Visor rain repellant
We used to spit in the inside of a pair of goggles (the big ones that covered half your face) rub it all over the glass, rinse it out with seawater before going skin diving and that sorted out the fogging - but this doesn't answer the question really.

Re: Visor rain repellant
yes if you find there is a lot of sea water inside your visor when you have your helmet on you could be in trouble
