Weather Fun!!
Hi All!
Weather up heres been mental! Rain rain rain! Anyone got any stories about it?
I had to work yesterday and took the bike all the way from Rosyth to Edinburgh (12miles) then all the way from there to Scone palace in Perth and home again! All in all about 120 miles! Pissed down all the way!!
Flash floods everywhere! Coming home was mental! riding through puddles with my feet fully submerged! Bloody soaked! rivers were running down the roads!
So proud of my CB5, she handled it brilliant! Never skipped a beat once!
Never knew we could go adventure biking on the streets/motorways of Scotland!

Re: Weather Fun!!
Been through some really heavy downpours in the last couple of days in the Yorkshire Dales/East Lancashire areas, but nothing like your experiences. Thought I was badly done to!! Have to re-think that one and count my blessings.

CB engine dies in heavy rain
Thumbs up to the CB for coping with your wet weather! However my CB which is normally as reliable as I could wish, does fail in one situation - when travelling in heavy rain! The engine simply dies away. I pull to the side of the road and wait for 5 minutes or so and she starts up again as good as gold. But if the heavy rain persists, the engine will peter out again - and then start up after a few minutes of being stationary.
This is evidently an unsatisfactory way of making progress. Can anyone suggest what might be happening here - and what I might do to protect the old girl from the wets?
Your help appreciated.

Re: Weather Fun!!
Have you got your original spark plug caps? When tried to buy a replacement, it didn't have the rubber cover that goes over the hole the spark plugs sit in. I guess if water gets in there it wouldn't be good?!?!?!

Rubber spark plug covers - and HT leads
Yep. Still got the original rubber covers. I wonder could it be the HT leads causing the problem. Anyone got experience of dodgy HT leads?
Re: Weather Fun!!
I had a similar problem with a Honda Rebel I used to use for the winter commute. One day, in torrential rain, it started to miss & die. I limped into work & at break bought some WD40 & gave the plug caps & leads a good squirt. Ran ok 'till my day off, when I changed the plug caps. I had no more problems despite some more really wet days that winter. Changing the leads might be a problem, I think they're crimped into the coils. Is the rubber cover that protects the coils still intact?
