Motorcycle towing dolly Empty Motorcycle towing dolly

Just wondering has an one experience of motorcycle towing dolly...the ones where front wheel is racheted up on a bracket connecting to towbar, and rear wheel is down
Are they legal, in uk/ireland ..europe ....are they any good....ive no room for trailer...a moto lug be great but not cheap to get to ireland...

As I understand they play havoc with the chain and sprockets. I suppose it's down to the distance though.

This sounds right. The top chain run is being pushed by the rear sprocket, instead of pulled by the front one. That means that, unless the chain is tight (which it shouldn't be) it could 'ruck up' between the front sprocket and the cover and cause damage. I've found this problem sometimes if I tried to bump start a bike and the chain had been loose.
However this means of towing would be OK if the chain is removed.

Yeah I was just going to say slip the chain off and secure it. I would prefer this type of towing tbh, such a pain lumping a bike onto a trailer for little blokes like me especially when it's wet.
