remove air filter box

has any one removed the air filter box and fitted after market air filters to the cb500.
or does any one now of any good ones that fit as there doesnt look like much room under the tank to fit them onto the carbs.

Fast bikes magazine had a Project 1K which was a CB500 upgraded as much as possible for under £1000.

In this project they did alsorts like underseat exhaust and also removed the airbox in favor of a cone filter. I didn't like how much air space there was once the airbox was removed and it made the engine appear smaller. I can't seem to find it on their website anymore though which is annoying because it was really useful.

I'm sure you can find back issues of which i'm sure they cover a load of cool upgrades they applied including painting and welding the framework to take an underseat exhaust.

The K&N website do have a fitting list stating sizes for all of there cone filters if your interested.
