They mess with the fueling causing the bike to not run properly all the way through the range. It's like making you run for half a mile while breathing through a straw. It causes a massive dead spot in the middle of the revs, typically 6th gear at 70mph you won't be able to hold it constant without adjusting the throttle more and more open over a period of about 10 miles.
The metal of the restrictor causes the petrol to condensate on the restrictor rather than going into the engine. I found once I removed mine the engine ran much better and mpg improved, not only that but the engine responsiveness throughout the range was much improved all the way through the revs from 2k upto the redline.
@Grarea , A2 is now 46.6bhp and you have to retake mod1 and 2 to do your unrestricted licence unlike before where it was 33bhp for 2 years and then you automatically got unrestricted.
