Michelin Road Classic Empty Michelin Road Classic

Post by TonyC Thu 26 Aug 2021, 9:06 pm

    Greetings Fellow CB ers.
As the Michelin Pilot Activ seems to be getting discontinued. I have just fitted the new Michelin Road Classic to the rear and was wondering if anybody has any views on this new tyre.
Michelin claim it to be much more sticky in the wet compared to the activ.
Current mileage is 73k. Will see how long it lasts.
    Any comments would be appreciated
    Cheers

I've not tried one of them (didn't know the pilot activ was being discontinued) - I've only had the original Dunlops, Avon Roadriers and my current Pirelli Diablos. I (and I'm sure other people) would be interested if you reported back after a few months of use... it's always good to have more tyre options.

Had a run out to Buxton / Cat and Fiddle roads at weekend.
Seems to be solid. Didn't feel any cause for concern whilst riding the twisties.
We will see what the wear rate is......

Yes, the wear rate is always the problem! Mind you, that's probably better than wooden tyres...

I was also thinking on getting a pair of Activ tyres after reading several discussions on the forum. I am currently using a pair of quite worn Pirelly demons, so not sure about what to put next then.

    Hola Marmoratus

    Go for the activs..

They wear well and have better feel than Bridgestones which square off after a few thousand miles.
Im running a Michelin Classic on the back which still feels solid after a 1000 miles to date.
    Hope this helps.

My little Monster has just hit 75000 miles today in North Wales runout.
Back tyre has now done over 2000 miles.
Still feels very confident in all weathers and wearing well.

    Looks pretty neat.
In season or two I guess I'll be replacing my 2018 Activs, so this info is much appreciated.

This week I finally had to  change my front tyre. Can't remember when I fitted the old one but its been well over 1-2 years.
Have replaced the 'activ' with a new Michelin Road Classic which now  matches the back. Changed at 84400 miles.
Hope this lasts as good  as the rear as this has done 11400 miles (see Previous Post ).Still has 3-4 ml of tread left.
Will update as and when I feel like it
    Cheers CBer's

What about signs of rubber aging on the rear? Any cracks or dinks on sidewalls etc?

Michelin Road Classic Empty Michelin Classic Rear Tyre Change

Post by TonyC Thu 21 Mar 2024, 10:09 pm

Well the time has finally come....Rear tyre is nearly down to wear mark....last millimetre so time for change.
CB has just gone over the 90k mark so tyre has done approx 17000 miles. I do believe in getting my monies worth.
Lets hope the new tyre lasts as well.
