    Guttered...dropped it!!! Empty Guttered...dropped it!!!

Post by DarrenRB Thu 25 Jan 2024, 12:02 am

    Newbie here...

A pic of my lovely bike I've owned for 23 Years!

Actually... I can't upload a pic... not that internet savvy - can't even work out to post a PIC!

Insert image asks for a URL, width and hight - any pointers?

    Thanks,

    Darren

Sorry to hear that, you are not the first and certainly wont be the last, as long as you are ok the rest can be repaired.

Here’s my trusty, lovely CB500 … had her for 23 years.

My first & only bike actually … bought her as a ‘first bike’ but genuinely loved it so much I never felt the urge to upgrade to something bigger.

    If it ain’t broke????

I’ll be picking your brains shortly- just thought I’d introduce myself! 😀

Once the image is selected, press the blue up arrow, then choose the bottom of the three options. That should send the image to the post.

Dropped the bike before Xmas crossing a tramline near Sheffield Weds FC in Hillsborough, Sheffield.

Done it a 1000 times but completely lost the front end - Went skidding down the road. Wet tramlines, no revs, shallow angle but lost it.... Was like black ice!!!

    Need a few bits!!!

The cracked ribs are fine!!  Guttered...dropped it!!! 1f600

Main part is the the bracket to which the RH peg is bolted to - sheared off. Bike rides fine but really awkward with no peg adj to rear brake!

Whats this part actually called - can't even search for it without a name! LOL  Rolling Eyes

Slowly getting the hang of of this forum & attaching PICS from google drive - not 'technically gifted'!!

    Thanks for your patience!

Glad to hear you are OK, rubber tyres and tramlines not a good combination Mad

    😆😆😆…. You’re not wrong!!!

It was a proper shock actually … first time I’d ever had a proper spill. Shook me up a little if I’m completely honest - I was really lucky 🍀!

I’ll Google the part number …. Really appreciated!

Can anyone recommend an online seller???
    Have an awesome weekend!!!

    Blimely...

Best price I can find online is £100 plus shipping... for the RHS peg bracket.

If anyone can throw me some pointers I'd be ever so grateful.

You can see why breaker yards make a mint - an old bike (like mine!) stripped down and sold for bits must make a fortune???

Ouch, that's not cheap, a site to keep an eye on is as follows:
    https://www.baboon.eu/en/part/honda-cb-500-1997-2003-cb500-v-w-x-y-footrest-hanger-left-2001/000001476017
They currently have a few L/H but unfortunately no R/H.
You could also try your local fabrication shop as whilst difficult ally welding can be done and should be much less than 100 notes!

    Thank you … will look.

Really hard to ride with no RH foot peg! You can use the rear peg but very little control over rear brake pedal.

If you promise not to laugh I’ll send a pic of my very temp work around!!!

It works for now - necessity is the mother of all invention…. 🤔

I'm sure an L shaped piece of metal and a longer Allen screw to fit onto the bottom of the bracket would work in the short term!!
