newbie to the cb500 forum seeking advice
Hi everyone
I've just bought myself a 2003 cb500, never had one before but needed something light , cheap and fun for an oldie....it ticked those boxes.
My only thing i am dissapointed in is the sound of it, it has the original standard exhaust
fitted . I have seen a delkevic up for grabs offa 2015 cb500 up for sale and was hoping it would fit, improve noise and without having to mess with carbs?
any advice very welcome.

Hi there, not sure if it would fit as the engines are slightly different and the frame as well.
To be sure, give Delkevic a ring and ask them.

delcevic offers 3 end cans for the cb.
short (250 (?) mm)
medium (320 (?) mm)
long (400 (?) mm)
by one way or another, I have used all of them
the first two are too loud, the longest one is ok , this is valid for my taste of course.
no need to touch the carbs, except if you want to.

I'm talking only about the oval end cans.

With the original exhaust, you will need new headers regardless of the end can you get.
With the exhaust you are looking at being from a 2015 bike I suspect that the headers would not fit, but as suggested give them a ring.

or, you can just drill some, say three, holes 4mm each at the end can , on the end face of the can and try it.
too loud, thread in a M5 bolt in one hole , not good, drill one more.
trial error, the only way.

Did the very same on my second bike, CB250RS back in the day, 4 holes in each exhaust

I had this mounted on my 1997 CB 500: https://www.massmoto.it/prodotto/tromb-inox-matt-black-cbf-500-2013-17/
it is perfectly compatible, much lighter and much shorter. It has a nice sound, pleasant but not excessive, a nice "pòt-pòt-pòt" (it looks a bit like a Triumph twin cylinder ;P). But now I have removed it to be able to register my motorbike in an Italian historical register (FMI).
Where are you from?

I've got a delkevic long and it sounds lovely. Doesn't require a tune up. It genuinely gives a nice deceleration pop sounds proper. Negatives is that it rusts easily in the winter.
