buzzing fuel tank....
Hi all, have a problem with the seating of the fuel tank, at low rpm the frame and tank seems to buzz for a second or two as increasing the revs (about 2-2500 rpm), have yet to determin the cause of this, or if this is something that a twin does, not had one before....where the fuel tank locates into the frame at headstock end, should there be any rubber around this as most of the vibration is around here......Any help would be greatfully recieved........

There should be rubber bungs at the headstock end, and rubber inserts into the seat bolt hole.

ok cool, i could not remember there being one when i took the tank off, but then it wasnt vibrating before.......i'll have to check around incase ive lost it. Does it fit in the hole on the frame or on end of tank at the front?

At the front of the tank there should be a post with two pins about an inch long coming off it to the left and right. These should have a bung on each end. They fit just under the frame if I remember rightly. Also there should be a right and left pads on the frame that the tank sits on. Thought I might find a pic, but the one in Haynes isn't very clear. If I come across one I'll post it. Haynes does show the others though.

A pdf copy of the Haynes manual is available in the sticky post at the top of the workshop section. Check the fuel section.

Items 7 & 9 here is what LI is talking about. I find the ones at the headstock end (9) tend to fall off when removing the tank.

I found that dobbing a bit of grease in the bungs stops this. I've also replaced the bottom inserts (which were ripped to shreds by a garage ) with a length of garden hose trimmed down the length to fit the tube. This works very well and gives enough clearance to stop the petrol tap fouling the frame.
