Broke the key in the gascap
Hey guys! Went to fill gas today, and broke my only key in the gascap. It´s sitting pretty deep in there, so I cant get it out. Had to push the bike home... Is there any tricks one can do to get the key out of there? Or do I have to buy a new gascap?
Since it was my only key, I can´t ride it.. does anyone know how to hotwire a cb5? Is it worth doing, or just order a new ignition?
Thanks for all the help I can get!

your petrol key and ignition key shouldn't be the same?
Noone will help you here because it sounds like you're asking for advice to hotwire a bike and well, we don't want that information in the wrong hands.

They are on mine, and the underseat lock!WeeTony wrote:your petrol key and ignition key shouldn't be the same?
The only reason they would be different is if someone has changed a lock in the past.
Shawn sorry to hear of your misfortune, try having a dig with a couple of hooked over paperclips; you might be able to hook the key out of the filler cap and that will be enough to get another one cut.

I got it out!! Used a couple of needles to hook on to it. So now I´m going to cut another key tomorrow, several keys!
Thanks alot for the quick replies! Love this forum, so much information and good help when you really need it.

you had a lucky one there, well done. we have a van at work with the key end permanently stuck in the barrel but the little bit left turns the barrel so it works ok.......for now,lol

Well done Shawn, lovely result!
A decent locksmith can make you up a new key with that

Re: Broke the key in the gascap
When the bike was new the keys/locks came as a matched set - one key should work all three locks.
I always *try* to get a 'spare' key cut for any bike or car that only comes with one - it's a lot cheaper than a new set of locks! (sorry if I'm preaching to the converted/teaching grandmother to suck eggs etc...)
