My retired one is 145,615 which I expect to be near the highest but not quite...

Mine has a mere 114700. I bought it with 90,000 and no history whatsoever. I rode it to Paris and back in a day and it'll do a few laps of the TT in June. Brilliant bikes!

Re: high milers
Unverified - but one was seen on ebay with 3000000 or so miles on it.... don't think anyone on here has quite got to that... mine has only got a paltry 56000...

I remember an old urban myth (it may've been true) from many years ago when I was a courier. A rider had a Kawasaki Z550GT that was relatively shiny and he decided to 'clock' it before moving it on. According to legend, when he opened the clock binnacle he found a wee note inside that read, "Oh no! Not again!"
Maybe your 13k '99 bike's actually been to the moon and back........

This idea has interested me too. From the garage receipts I got with my bike it certainly did a large number of miles in a short amount of time, plus, sometimes the numbers on my odometer don't quite line up the way they should - it is very subtle, but I have wondered if it has done 156,000 rather than 56,000 miles.
I have never looked inside the clock-housing to see if there is any evidence of tampering... the bike wasn't in fantastic condition when I got it (I also haven't done much to help this!) so it could have gone around the clock.

A random guy in a pub relayed this story to me yesterday, claiming it was him who found a similar note, but in different circumstances! Now I don't know what to believe!

Re: high milers
I dare say there are plenty of these little notes in clocks since the urban myth started.

Re: high milers
I remember a courier company I worked for had a couple of ER-5s as 'pool' bikes. These were bought very, very cheaply in Europe and had KMH clocks. One got written off and went for auction.
The new owner contacted us to ask how it had covered 24,000 KMS in just 18 months. I had to break the news that the clocks had been fitted with a converter, so those numbers were actually miles.....

Re: high milers
There has been a british courier CBF500 a few years ago that has done more than 500,000 kms. According to the owner the engine hasn`t been overhauled but needed some oil.

There's always the chance people started doing it because of the original myth and that it now happens because of it.

Re: high milers
Exactly 100k though.... At least you know that cossetted Tango has lots & lots of life left. I haven't touched the valve clearances or balanced the carbs since getting the bike at 90k (with no history) and it still returns 200+ miles from 15.5 litres of fuel. If it aint broke.......
