High milage bikes on the forum Empty High milage bikes on the forum

    Post by liverpool_f_ Fri 24 Jun 2016, 7:01 pm

It would be interesting if this could be an on going thread. I bought my bike with 54k on it and I considered it high. Now that it has given awesome service and has 68k, rising by 1k a month, I do not consider it high. What type of mileage do other forum members have and how many have been around the clock with a bike that's still on the road?

Hello lads, I've fixed your list - the idea is that you add your one to the top and copy the rest of the list so it ends up like this:

    36219 -1997- wornsprokets

Now we are getting it. If you could insert your bike in order of milage as well that would blow my mind!

No it has had a cbf gearbox. The valve seats have been recut and a few camchains replaced as would be expected though. It has run a manual cam chain tensioner for nearly 10k now.
The rest of the bike is about as original as trigger's broom Very Happy.
It is still on the road at present, but I plan to retire it from courier duties in a couple of months.

Yeah, but, as he mentioned himself, only in a triggers-broom type of way :) TBH it would probably be interesting to know what people's odometer readings are anyway.

Theres no shame in having a low miles example. I think budget permitting, many more of us would have gone for one

There's nothing to be embarrassed about:  I got my bike at the beginning of 2008, it had 40,000 miles on it, it now has 59000 miles on it - roughly 2500 miles a  year - so I haven't exactly put many of those miles on it!

When I purchased I wasn't concerned about the condition or the mileage - partly because of reading the posts on the old MSN site about high-mileage, reliable CB500s!

I don't think any of us are going to 'judge' you on the mileage but we might just be surprised at how you managed to find one with that few on the clock!
