CB500SY Rear Brake Piston
Hello Folks,
I have a rear brake problem with my 2000 CB500 SY. I need a new piston and seals etc, but all I can find is front ones. Does anyone know where I can find a rear piston specifically, but a rebuild kit that includes everything would be nice. According to fowlers the part No is 43107MAK003 and it's no longer available. I can't find anything on wemoto or ebay, and those are the three places I usually get stuff from. Is there a similar piston I can buy that will fit?
Thanks for any help

Sorry I'm not much help, but when my rear calliper jammed up pretty bad, I remember finding it was no longer made, and I got the garage that were about to do my MOT to tap it free very gently indeed.

Hi Both and thanks.
Davidsilver don't have it either. I wonder if any bikes share the rear brembo brake. I read somewhere the F800 does, but I'm not sure about it adn what one to get.
Getting the brakes apart isnt a problem, it's sitting on my kitchen table in pieces right now, but the piston from the rear caliper is a little beyond just cleaning up, I need a new piston for it.

The piston (part 6 in the diagram) has corrosion and is not servicable. I was going to clean it, but it is beyond saving. I had thought it would be easier/cheaper/better to replace only the piston. I'm not really in the habit of replacng working parts and everything else on the caliper is fine other than the seals which are wrecked (probably from the corrosion, though maybe it's the other way round). I will look for a whole new caliper and see if that's easier than finding that one part!

Re: CB500SY Rear Brake Piston
Give Richard at titan classics a call, he deals with titanium. If you can give him the size, which if I remember correctly is 32mm x 28mm he will probably have one to do the job.
Or look on the cmnsl website which will tell you that there ore over 150 other models that use these pistons. This will widen your choices. Probably more expensive than the titanium one though.

Thanks, I'll look into the other models. And thanks Andy, I'll give titan a call if I can't find anything tonight. Much appreciated
