You know that brown dial on the Front brake lever?
The adjuster?
Turns out it isn't brown at all.
Also, did you know it has numbers on it?

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
6am this morning was first time since before summer I needed some choke to get her running. It only ever needs 2 seconds but today was first day. Felt colder too.
I've had some Gerbing heated gloves for a couple of years but they are also pretty effective without being heated so I've never actually got around to wiring them up! So tomorrow going to try them out..

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
Yesterday I fitted my givi roadstar screen after the bike has been unfaired all summer. It certainly keeps the breeze off and I don't find it obtrusive. It takes a few goes to get the angle right as there's always some wind buffeting/noise, just at what speed you want it.
Most of my riding is b and a roads so it works at those speeds but not worth it for town riding. I'll see if I can pick up another from fleabay for my spare bike too,

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
My temp bodge for my rad let go this weekend so I'll be bodging it more as I don't want to wreck my new rad over winter with the salt and filth off the A1.
Was a bit nippy on the way home on the neck and hands, not quite enough for the heated grips though even after 80 miles. So I'll be waiting it out until I start to need the heated grips with my summer gloves before I start trying out my new winter gloves. They're the Buffalo Yukon Gloves, waterproof really nice feeling I'll pop up a review on them after I've used them, I've also got myself a buffalo jacket too as my rst one has a couple of holes in the arms from my off the other week.

Can confirm they are very effective! Had them on medium setting, no cold in hands or fingers whatsoever before sunrise this morning, rest of body freezing : ) Nice that they heat the backs of your hands where the wind is.

Fork seals
Had fork seals and front brake pads replaced for £125.
Said to be a weakness of this bike also bearings in forks also badly worn so may pop again.
Any thoughts?

Do you mean the bushes in the forks? They're not expensive, about 35 quid for the 4 (upper & lower in eack leg). Means pulling the forks apart though, pity they didn't give you the option to have them replaced while they were doing the seals

Yes The bushes so would probably be another £125 to replace them so may ride on hoping there are no safety issues.

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
My s20evo has just about had it over a months worth of riding. 1,800 miles of motorway haven't been too kind to the centre and it's down to 1mm so will be getting changed back to bt45's soon, running a high psi.
In other news my swingarm bolt covers both conveniently went missing at or on the way to college the other day so any suggestions on cheap replacements?

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
These should probably work but you will I think have to trim the flanges with a sharp knife otherwise they will be too tight - they're good because they're cheap and can be used a million times unlike the OEM ones which are very expensive and can barely be used once:

Having had a look about, these do a 43mm, I shall give them a try.

43mm will probably be too small. Need 45 cut down imo.

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
Oh really??
I kind of thought, if you are cutting them down, you must be taking 1mm off each side.
I shall take one for the team and report back.

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
Well what it is is that you don't really cut all of a flange off - you trim it a bit here and there until you achieve the kind of fit you want - which can be whack-it-in-with-rubber-mallet sort of tight (if you just shave bits off the top one or two flanges) or you can make it wow-that's-lovely-and-snug degree of fit if you take more time. However if they're too small you're just knackered and that's the end of it. 42 is never ever going to fit - at least my 42 ones didn't. So I concluded 43 probably wouldn't either. Hopefully they will though!

Re: What did you do with your CB500 today?
if they are too small then just use gasket/silicone sealer to hold them in, easy to get off when maintenance is needed, but how often is that!

I bought these over a year ago and went in nicely with a couple of taps from a rubber mallet. :-
