What did you do with your CB500 today?

Today, I used my CB to ESCAPE!
Wife's got her mind set on re-flooring, re-painting and re-furnituring the bedroom, meaning I'm supposed to do all the heavy lifting on that project.

So, me assembling IKEA furniture while the sun's high on the sky and temperature's nearing 20 degrees C - naah... Got on the bike and found some nearby twisties at first given opportunity.

Wonderful. Returned to the furniture assembly job all cheered up.

Sure is. I read somewhere that after angling, motorcycling is the top most satisfying hobby.

My main bike passed its mot yesterday, must be the 12th in my ownership. No issues, front brake is a bit spongy so bungee tied the leverfor the night to force any air out.
No mention of topbox plate being on the wrong way round either.

Sunny day forecast tomorrow so will take the other one out, its got bridgestone evos on, see how they go now the tarmac is dry.

Changed the front brake pads as they were in right old mess. Cleaned the chain also as it was bad too . Went for a ride to bed in pads. Agree with muttley1

met up with another member with a mucky CB for a run....





which meant I could get my revenge for this a few weeks ago 

Finally got a chance to ride the most expensive CB500 on the planet (thanks Jerryfudd), and gave my bike a wipe over to get some mucky finger prints off the rear wheel...

was it worth all the expense

Improvised Photo Session

Got a new pair of downpipes fitted. The noise coming out of the header from blowing was too much! Now it runs much more quietly, and from the back.

Shiny :)  Which brand were they?  Did they fit easily or did you have to do some 'adjustment' to get it all to work?

on the motad ones I believe the instructions were to fit the whole system together loosely and then tighten together which which filled me with confidence but all seemed to go together just fine.

who makes them out of interest?

today i have mostly been changing the gear selector shaft as i jammed it into the wrong gear the other week and have bent something, if this doesnt cure it then its a gearbox out job to look at the selector fork.

did a track day the other week and tried race shift, but when red mist took over chasing someone, i forgot i'd changed it !!!! 

Took a 140 mile tour of the countryside and coast with a mate on a Yamaha Fazer, had a birdstrike with a blackbird which apparently caused a cloud of feathers behind me. Got a discount on the fried breakfast because the owner likes bikes and has a VFR750.

ouch.

Waited some more for my new fork stanchion. :-(

Opened up the right hand carb to unstick what was sticking.. now runs on both cylinders again  
Found a bit of foam sponge in the carb as well, under the diaphragm.. just how the fishcake did it get there???

I can't remember the brand beyond remembering that I've seen them mentioned elsewhere on here recently. If I see it again I'll come back with the answer; I'll know it if I see it. They fitted really easily for me by getting the garage to do it! I'm glad I did as the bolts had rusted badly with the pipes.

A friend recommended ACF50 to "keep them like new" Any opinions?
