Yeah it was hiding at the back of the garage, awaiting a valve check. In anticipation of this happening sometime this week or next I extricated it from its dusty tomb and noticed I was quite a way out on the mileage.

49603 miles on mine at the moment.

My 1994 reads 68000 km (42000 mi) on the dial, but this might also be 168000 km. There is a service sticker underneath the seat saying "service at 53000 km (in 2001)". I bought the bike in 2015. So it may be the low reading, but the higher one is also possible. There is no system in the Netherlands for motorcycles to register true mileage as there is for cars. We have no MOT on motorcycles, so no annual mileages recording.

I'm sure that someone would bring this up.... Are we basing this off the milage of the clocks or the engine as I'm sure that there are others on the forum who are running bike without the original engine like myself?

Clocks - otherwise it wouldn't be fair. We can always add notes like 'has done 300,000 miles but used 6 engines' for avoidance of doubt :)

I know people might not always know if the bike had a new engine before it got to them; there is nothing we can do about it. Equally, my bike says 60-odd thousand miles - has it done 60k miles or 160k miles? It is very hard to tell, especially with a bike that is in similar condition to mine!

I don't know if this counts as I retired it two years ago but I took my first CB up to 145,000 (bought it in 2008 with 20,000 on it) and when I retired it it was still great in almost every way, just using a bit of oil - nothing out of hand but would want topping up after a spirited journey to London and back at 200 miles each way. It would also put out a tiny bit of blue smoke at the highest revs. So I decided to keep it for parts for my second CB which I loved but somehow not *quite* as much as my first one - Eve as I called her, since her reg was P63 EAV. 

It never had a new camchain or any engine work except a few valve clearance adjustments - I only needed to change shims twice in that time. I also got through perhaps four camchain tensioners. Nothing else major happened although I did replace the clutch springs and plates at around 90,000 and latterly had to cut the centre-stand off as it had got too wobbly and all the mounting bolts were seized to hell. 

My second CB, a disc model unlike the first one, is still in my garden and is currently advertised in the For Sale section as I recently invested in a VTR1000 Firestorm (boooooooo...but also yeeeeeeeaaaah) and can't afford to keep both. I got that one with 13,000 on and it's now at just over 60,000 and running like a peach.
