No I needed the space so I'm breaking it.
I was in need of retiring from the game more than the bike, if the truth was to be told Very Happy

That's a colossal mileage Andy. I'm guessing it's a bit of a Trigger's broom of a bike at that? Also, will you miss riding?

Stripped it completely, have used all plastics and tank on mine (Was red) looks good yellow. Also used Fuel end Can as mine was a bit noisy, rear brake disc, Front Master Cylinder and brake hose, Clocks (as mine were grotty) and a load of other parts off it.
Still have engine frame and wheels, in shed.
It has saved me a fortune.
    Cheers.

Yes it ran fine. A few rattles here and there but was showing 50 ponies on the dyno not so long back.
I break bikes for a living now so I needed the space.
It was too modified to sell. And realistically would you buy one with that mileage. Regardless of their legendary reliability?

    108,000 miles. 1996 Sport, red.

I bought it off a courier who had done over 50,000 of those miles in the past 5 years. In some ways it has been well maintained though tatty, so most of the work I am doing is cosmetic. He told me he always replaced oil and filter 4 times a year. Runs very sweet and sounds tight (in a good way) as far as I can judge. I don't ride much. I love the bike though and am spending a bit to tidy it up.

Purchased with 37,000 km in 2008.

    I change :

    1 Cam chain tensioner
    1 Cam chain
3-4 Complete Chain kit (dont remember)
    2 Ignition starter brushes
    3 Spark plugs kit
    1 Custom Handlebar.
    3 back shock absorbers / 1 front.
1 front brake disc and 2 back drum brake

And some aesthetic things, like seat, windshield, and rear view mirrors.

Nothing has been changed in the engine. Cylinders, carburetors, etc. All original.

    Fucking inmortal machine.

Just hit 40k this afternoon. CB's been pressed back into service cos 6 pot tokico callipers on the "9" are made of all kinds of chocolate. Also total servicing nightmare like I can't even begin to fathom. What the actual hell. 12 pistons, 12 dust seals, 12 fluid seals, and unbleedable system. An entire world of pain.

I've seen it said elsewhere that 6 pot calipers (like 5 valve heads) are a technical dead end and best binned and replaced with 4 pots.

Try and bleed the dual combined braking system of the VFR800 - I resorted to a vacuum type brake bleeder in the end and that made it a lot better  Rolling Eyes That said it only had 9 pistons, and sets of seals, and seven bleed screws which have to be bled in a certain sequence (as per usual)
